Advantages of using medium-pressure ultraviolet (UV) disinfection in swimming pools

In swimming pool water treatment and disinfection, ultraviolet sterilizers are a purely physical disinfection method, swimming pools UV disinfection has always held an important position, and common UV sterilization equipment includes low-pressure and medium-pressure UV sterilizers.

During the disinfection process, medium-pressure UV, due to the synergistic effect of its wavelengths, has a broader spectrum and more thorough disinfection than low-pressure single-wavelength lamps, with a clear disinfection advantage over low-pressure UV.

Different types of microorganisms, and different parts of the microbial structure, have significantly different absorption capacities and sensitivities to different wavelengths of UV. For example, the maximum absorption wavelength of E. coli is 265nm, Cryptosporidium is 260nm, and MS2 bacteriophage is 270nm. Medium-pressure multi-spectral UV, due to its wide wavelength range, can destroy different types of microorganisms and different parts of microorganisms through different wavelengths of UV, thus determining that medium-pressure multi-spectral sterilization has greater broad-spectrum capabilities.

Medium-pressure UV sterilization is more thorough. Multi-spectral UV has a significant destructive effect on parts of microorganisms other than DAN, such as cell walls and nucleic acids. This can effectively overcome the problem of bacterial photoreactivation after single-wavelength UV sterilization.

Medium-pressure UV sterilization has better environmental adaptability and can be adapted to various swimming pool scenarios. The luminous power of medium-pressure UV lamps is not affected by the temperature of the medium. In the disinfection medium temperature range of 0-80℃, fluctuations will not affect the working state of medium-pressure UV; the optimal working temperature of low-pressure UV lamps is 15℃, and the maximum tolerable range is 5-40℃. Below 10℃, there may be problems such as failure to light up or significantly low luminous efficiency.

In the swimming pool water treatment process, UV sterilizers are easy to operate, easy to maintain, and have low disinfection costs, making swimming pool water disinfection more efficient and safe.
