The formation and function of hot springs

There are two main ways hot springs are formed:
One is due to extinct volcanic areas formed by mountain activities. Plate movement causes the surface to rise, while uncooled magma remains underground, continuously releasing a large amount of heat. Heat sources of this type are concentrated, and the pores in water-bearing rock layers become heated, turning into hot water, much of which boils into steam. Hot springs formed in this way are called sulfur salt springs, also known as sulfur springs.
The second is through the infiltration and circulation of surface water. Rainwater seeps into the surface, penetrates the aquifer, and forms groundwater. When groundwater encounters underground heat, it turns into hot water and steam. The hot water and steam are under high pressure, and once they encounter cracks, they will surge upwards, eventually reaching the surface to form hot springs. With towering mountains and deep valleys, the groundwater level in the valley bottom is lower than that in the mountains. Therefore, hot springs formed in this way mostly appear in valleys and are called carbonate springs.
In short, the formation of hot springs is the result of geothermal activity. Regardless of the type, most hot springs are located in areas rich in geothermal resources, such as the boundaries of tectonic plates, major geological fault zones, and volcanic distribution belts.
China is rich in geothermal resources. Currently, more than two to three thousand hot springs have been discovered, mainly distributed in the southeastern coastal areas and southwestern regions.
The Effects of Hot Springs :
Hot spring water contains abundant minerals, which not only have therapeutic effects on various diseases but also have health, beauty, skincare, and recuperative effects. Through various methods such as bathing, drinking, and inhalation, it can relieve pain, eliminate fatigue, and rejuvenate.
