How to manage the swimming pool during closure

I. Protection of the Swimming Pool Itself
During the swimming pool's off-season, many people wonder whether to keep the pool filled with water or empty it. The answer is: keep it filled! Why? Because many pools are built underground. If left empty for nine months after the swimming season, the surrounding earth pressure can cause cracks in the pool surface. Therefore, to prevent damage, deformation, and tile loss, the pool can be kept filled with water, which can be used for fire protection or fish farming. However, algae will inevitably grow in the water, making cleaning more difficult when the pool reopens. Therefore, during cleaning, add an appropriate amount of copper sulfate or algaecide to solve this problem!
II. Protection of the Circulation System and Filter Protection
If the circulation system is not protected during the off-season, significant repair costs and labor will be incurred when the pool reopens.
1. To prevent rust and corrosion in the circulation system pipes and fittings, hydrazine can be added to the metal pipes to prevent corrosion caused by dissolved oxygen, preventing rust, iron buildup, and perforation.
2. To prevent sand and soil from entering the water distribution pipes through the inlet and outlet, rubber stoppers can be placed at the pipe openings. This also helps maintain the hydrazine's retention time in the pipes.
3. The filter should be thoroughly washed, and the filter material should be checked. Replacement is necessary if needed. More thorough inspection of the filter material is required when using water with high iron and manganese content or high alkalinity.
III. Storage and Cleaning of Facilities and Equipment
1. Chemical dissolution tanks, mixing tanks, storage tanks, and filter tanks should be thoroughly rinsed with water to remove any chemical residue to prevent corrosion. If scale forms, it can be cleaned with descaler 清洗。
2. Outdoor ancillary equipment, such as spray heads and drinking fountains, should be disassembled and stored to prevent corrosion from rainwater.
IV. Chemical Storage
1. If chemicals are stored in equipment rooms, they must be stored in sealed containers to prevent corrosion of metals.
2. Among chlorine agents, sodium hypochlorite and bleaching powder are most prone to losing their effectiveness. They can be used for other purposes to avoid waste.
3. Sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) is easily hygroscopic and soluble, and can cause corrosion of metal containers. Therefore, it must be adequately protected from moisture.
4. Copper sulfate, aluminum sulfate, sodium sulfate, diatomaceous earth, and other algaecides are easily soluble in water, so they must be stored in a place protected from wind, rain, sun, and moisture to ensure effectiveness when the pool reopens.
